Well, we finally did it… the Mr. and I have officially purchased a house! After a whirl-wind house hunt, we found a beautiful home in a great neighborhood and signed on the dotted line. We’re so excited to be home-owners again!
Our house was built in 2003 and, although it has been well cared for, there are some cosmetic things that need immediate attention (replacing flooring and painting every wall, in every room of the house). Like most houses in the Phoenix metropolitan area, our house is a cookie-cutter builder home. Luckily, the previous owner worked in construction and liked to do DIY projects, so our home has some nice upgrades that won’t be found in other homes in our neighborhood. Like the wood trim around all of the windows. Never-mind that it’s painted various shades of sherbet.
And hard wood flooring (which is not very common here in the desert). Who cares that it is irreparably scratched up? And a gorgeous backyard with a built-in BBQ, mini kitchen and firepit. Are those unpainted walls I see?
But hey, in this hot real estate market, on our limited budget, beggars can’t be choosers. Yes, there will be projects, but we like a good challenge and are happy we’ll be able to personalize it and really make it “ours”. We have big plans for this house, and I can’t wait to share all of the changes with you!
